Ketamine

At WorkSafeNB, we prioritize our clients. To better support workers recovering from workplace injuries, we’ve updated our management of ketamine treatments.

Information for health care professionals:

WorkSafeNB generally does not recommend ketamine/esketamine or related treatments as medical aid. However, we may consider (subject to pre-approval and initial sign-off by WorkSafeNB) it for treating major depression related to a compensable injury that hasn't improved with at least two or more antidepressant medications of adequate dose and duration (treatment-resistant depression).

To ensure our clients receive the best care, treatment providers must complete the Ketamine/Esketamine Review Booklet for using ketamine/esketamine for a compensable injury.

WorkSafeNB will pay the completion fee for the review booklet equivalent to twice the amount of an office visit. All sections of the review booklet must be completed to qualify for reimbursement.
