In 2014, Pam Baker and her family faced the heartbreaking loss of her husband Jim, who tragically did not return home from work one day. With six children, Pam had to manage her own grief while supporting her children through their loss.
Two years later, Pam found solace and support in Threads of Life, a community of individuals who had experienced similar tragedies. This connection provided Pam with the understanding and empathy she needed during such a difficult time.
In 2024, Pam and her family were honoured to serve as national family spokespeople for Steps for Life - Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy. By sharing Jim’s story, Pam aimed to honour his memory and encourage others to participate in the walk and fundraising activities, which support families affected by workplace accidents.
Pam is dedicated to ensuring that families in need receive the support they require and is passionate about raising awareness about workplace health and safety. Through her involvement with Steps for Life and Threads of Life, Pam continues to advocate for the importance of workplace safety and the impact it has on families.
As a member of the Injured Worker Advisory Committee for WorkSafeNB, Pam is committed to representing families who have experienced similar losses. She actively promotes the prevention of workplace injuries and fatalities and continues to be a strong advocate for health and safety in her community.
