WorkSafeNB is committed to engaging with you, our stakeholders, whenever we are considering changes to legislation that affects workers and employers. We know you’re as passionate as we are about making our province a healthy and safe place to work and live, and we must work together to continuously improve our safety practices.
In December 2018 and the spring of 2019, we were thankful for your support as the government passed key legislative changes that improved the safety of our workplaces, eliminated the unpaid three-day waiting period for injured workers, and provided some financial relief to employers. But as we compare ourselves with similar organizations across the country, we see that we can do more to improve occupational health and safety, and improve benefits for injured workers while also reducing costs.
Given that we aspire to be a leader in health and safety, providing timely and proper support to our injured workers in their recovery, and establishing competitive assessment rates to ensure New Brunswick is a good place to do business, we need to do more. WorkSafeNB has charted a legislative path forward that will help achieve this vision. Please take a moment to review our proposed changes and have your say!
