February 26, 2018 – WorkSafeNB will support five research studies in 2018 through its Chief Medical Officer Occupational Medicine Grant program.
The successful grant applicants are:
Gold: The Effects of Air Quality and Emergency Department Visits of Asthma/COPD, Dr. Mike Howlett, Saint John Regional Hospital.
Silver: Measurement Methods for Lead in Toenails, Dr. Anil Adisesh, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick.
Bronze: Development of Software that Assesses Tick Engorgement and Risk of Lyme Disease, Dr. Laurie Ricker, Mount Allison University.
Runners-up:
Critical Dynamics Phase 3: Prospective Evaluation of a Copying Style Intervention to Reduce Work Burnout in Emergency Department Health Professionals, Dr. Mike Howlett, Saint John Regional Hospital.
Using Semantic Coding of Text Based Occupation Titles with the Canadian National Occupation Codes (NOC), Dr. Anil Adisesh, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick.
A total of $63,400 was awarded.
WorkSafeNB supports medical research related to occupational illness and injury to better serve New Brunswick’s workers.
