Worker dies at lumber mill site

WorkSafeNB is saddened to report that a heavy equipment operator died Wednesday, September 23, after an incident at the Twin Rivers Paper Company Inc. site in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.

The man, in his 50s, died from crushing injuries after an incident at about 3:15 p.m.

A stop-work order – not to disturb the scene – was issued and WorkSafeNB employees are on site.

WorkSafeNB expresses its sincere condolences to the worker's family, friends and co-workers.

The agency is conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. The investigation helps WorkSafeNB determine how the fatality occurred, how it may have been prevented and whether there were any violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or its regulations.
