Lily Lake hosts Day of
Mourning ceremony
More
than 100 people endured flurries and a wintry Saint John wind
on April 28 to pay respect to workers who were hurt or killed
on the job.
They were attending the Day of Mourning
ceremony at Lily Lake’s Hatheway Labour Exhibit Centre, an
event marked each year to honour the memory of those workers
who never came home. Saint John was one of five New Brunswick
communities to hold ceremonies over the weekend. More

New
Brunswick workers use thousands of chemicals every day. They
are essential ingredients in every day items from paint to
asphalt, air conditioning to gasoline, and soap to paper. But
from their production to their handling, transport and use,
chemicals can pose a danger for human health and the
environment.
For over two decades, employers, employees
and industries that produce, import, sell and use chemicals in
Canada have benefited from the comprehensive legislative and
regulatory requirements of the Canadian-made Workplace
Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS). More
ATVs: Fast thrills and
dangerous spills
They’re
fast, fun, and can go just about anywhere.

Q:
We
are unable to find a standard timeframe or expiration date for
hard hats anywhere online. Some websites state two while
others state five years, some say to go by the manufacturer’s
suggested expiry date, while others say to simply replace the
hard hat if it is in poor condition. If a hard hat has not
been used very often, is it still mandatory for us to replace
it over a two or five year period, even if it’s in great
condition?
