Ellis was appointed to the board of directors as an employer
representative on February 19, 2009. He was nominated by the
Construction Association of New Brunswick.
Ellis has served as executive director of the Electrical
Contractors Association of New Brunswick (ECANB) since 1990. He
chairs the ECANB Industrial Relations Committee, the board of
trustees of its training trust funds and the board of trustees of
its joint trustee employee assistance plan with Local 502 IBEW. He
represents the ECANB on the board of directors of the Construction
Association and other external committees. He also sits on the NB
Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification board as an employer
representative and he is a non-voting advisor to the board of
directors of the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association, the
National Trade Contractors Coalition of Canada and various local
apprenticeship advisory committees.
Ellis holds a BA in political science from UNB, an MPA in
industrial relations from Dalhousie University and a certified
association executive designation from the Canadian Society of
